An evolution of Based Upon’s signature Twist sculpture, the Baby’s dramatic form is based on a single pattern which
repeats at minute and gigantic scales throughout our universe, from the florets
in a sunflower to the formations of galaxies.

The Baby’s tri-oval top twists away from its
base, to reveal a 1066 Sygnet ‘Pacific’ grand piano. The top is crafted in
Based Upon’s Tramazite material. Informed by Based Upon’s studies of the
natural world, the Tramazite appears to hold still the deep movements of a
cosmos or an ocean.

The 1066 Sygnet ‘Pacific’ grand piano is
hand-crafted from solid spruce, from the Valle de Fiemme in the north Italian
Alps where Stradivarius made his finest violins. The keyboard, created in
England, is engineered from laminated hardwood to ensure no possibility of
movement or decay.

The piano’s wrestplank is built in
Canadian maple to ensure the best in consistent tuning stability. Abel
custom-made hammers from Germany are used for richness of tone, and
the
‘all-black’ action mechanism ensures accuracy of response and inherent
resistance to climatic variation.
