A million Times is an ongoing project that presents clocks as art objects unleashed from a solely functional existence. The hands of multiple analogue clocks are programmed to move independently and in formation to perform abstract, dance-like choreographies, before synchronising once each minute to accurately tell the time in a digital typography. Marrying conceptual enquiry with technically challenging design and engineering processes, A million Times is not so much about time-telling as it is about designing the passing of time.
A million Times 288 (Ten) was introduced in 2020 in an edition of ten to celebrate ten years since the founding of the Humans since 1982. The artwork revisits the original 288 clock face format of the first A million Times artwork from 2013, updated with new materials and production methods. Made with Corian, a stonelike solid surface material and available in either white or black, the artwork is produced in three panels to increase ease of installation and long-term maintenance.
